Lacoste Open Singles gets interesting

Into the Final 8

In a 'clash of the Forties', Tim Cockroft, who works at a desk all day and probably tears around the office to keep fit, beat Eton Rackets Pro Peter Brake in 9, 4 and 1. Peter has access to two courts all day but probably has to spend half his time sitting down answering school emails! In the other early round, Coyney, to whom fitness may from time to time appear to be 'for other people', was 2 games down before something clicked into place and he ended up beating Ali Robinson in a mammoth match.

Let the big games commence - between now and Sunday we'll see some interesting matches played on a court which one week ago was lying in pieces on the floor - well done Alan and Gary Neal and their team for getting the front wall back into play on the Championship Court. On paper the closest match is between Hoppy and Mark Hubbard, with Hoppy in the ascendant on recent ocassions. Meanwhile, after a hard day at the office Tim Cockroft has to deal with none other than Jamie Stout. Perhaps he should offer him a day job and tire him out first?
