Jamie Stout defeated Bryn Sayers in the Final of the 2010 US Open, 6/2 6/2 3/6 6/2
Jamie and Bryn were both 'surprises' as US Open finalists. Jamie played the favourite Camden Riviere in his semi-final, a tight match which Jamie won in
four sets, 3/6 6/3 6/5 6/4.

It seems relatively unusual that the two final World Championship contenders, who would be expected to be in the prime of their campaigns to challenge Rob Fahey in Melbourne in May, should fall like this in semi-final rounds.
Were Jamie to carry on with a career in top flight Tennis his next opportunity to challenge for the World Championship will not be until 2012. Currently, following his win in the US Open Singles he is in a very strong position to be one of the top four players in the IRTPA World Race Points which close in December 2011, where it is the top 4 players, excluding the World Champion, who are eligible to enter the eliminator matches for the right to challenge the world champion in 2012. This is unlike Rackets Singles and Doubles challenges, which are based on the strength of the challenge[s], judged by an international committee. Jamie is the Rackets Singles World Champion; that title has not been contested this season.
