Brigands Peripatetic Tournament 2022

The 2022 Brigands Peripatetic Tournament was another highly competitive, enjoyable and social event, held Saturday October 1 at the Hardwick House tennis court. There was a slight hitch in that, due to Covid and unwellness, no Brigand was able to play on the day. Fortunately, Nick Pellew and Anthony Bailey stepped in to play as honorary Brigands, having not been winners of their respective group matches.

“The Speedbirds and the Bar prevailed to battle it out in the final. This followed hard fought semis by the former finalists, the Old Etonians (with a tough handicap) and the Combined Services (with a tough handicap and one very sore knee!). All three final matches were coincidentally won 6-4, showing the closeness of the contests. The Bar came out the well-deserved winners! Well done Oliver Wise and Edward Hess.

Lesley Ronaldson, despite sustaining a hand injury (not broken, thankfully), marked the tournament in her normal exemplary, efficient and charming manner.

My lovely wife, Victoria, provisioned throughout the proceedings, from preparing freshly cooked bacon rolls for breakfast to the last nibble of cheese and homemade plum and apple crumble (with custard!) and homemade chocolate trifle at the end of the day. She’s a star.

Following the kind comments already received, all seem to have had a great time and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2023.
