13 pairs of young Real Tennis players took part in the annual junior doubles held at Holyport over the weekend of 21st / 22nd September.
U15 Doubles Final: Ned Cordle & Felix Moffett bt Jack Morgan & Daniel Morgan 6/1 6/3
U19 Doubles Final: Algie Nottingham & Archie Campbell bt Archie Watson & Nathan McGarvey 6/3 6/2
The U15 sections saw an influx of 10/11-year-olds from Seacourt taking part in the championships for their first time. One of these rookie pairs, Jack and Daniel Morgan, went all the way to the final of the event. In the final, they played against a much more experienced 14-year-old pair from Radley Ned Cordle and Felix Moffett with Ned and Felix coming out winners in a well contested match 6/1 6/3.
The standard of tennis improved dramatically on Sunday in the U19 section. Many of the players who had recently taken part in the U19 World Championships in Bordeaux renewed acquaintances at Holyport. Excellent group matches led to a final between Algie Nottingham (Holyport) and Archie Campbell (Bristol) v Archie Watson (Oratory) and Nathan McGarvey (Wellington). This first-class final ended with a win for Algie and Archie 6/3 6/2.
A big thank you must go out to Holyport professional Josh King who marked excellently throughout both days, and of course to the T&RA for their continued support.
