Bristol Real Tennis Club Seeking Head Professional

Real Tennis Professionals are invited to apply for the position of Head Professional at Bristol Real Tennis Club.

This is a full-time position. The closing date for applications is Friday June 6th.

BRTC is a thriving club with an involved and active committee, a welcoming atmosphere, a well-maintained court and steady membership and court occupancy.

We seek a well-qualified professional to lead and develop the playing of real tennis for members of all ages. We are open to candidates of varying levels of experience with ambition to progress to greater levels of qualification and skill levels with corresponding remuneration and incentives.

Key responsibilities:

These will be shared with our Club General Manager and a collaborative attitude and working pattern are essential for the successful running, growth and development of the Club. Roles will include:

  • Instruction and coaching, including the development of junior players
  • Match and tournament organisation
  • Racket services and ball-making
  • Maintaining the professionals’ shop
  • Growth of membership and player participation
  • Running the booking system, the financial accounting system and the collection of court and membership fees.
  • Fostering good contact with other Real Tennis clubs

Qualifications and skills:

  • Level 2 IiP qualification (or equivalent), or level 1 with a firm intention and plan to gain level 2.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to flexibly share tasks and work closely with the Club Manager
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, website management and use of social media on behalf of the Club
  • The ability to be proactive and imaginative in suggesting, instituting and running initiatives to develop and grow the Club.

Remuneration:

  • The successful candidate will be self-employed and therefore responsible for their own tax returns. Their core source of income will derive from a percentage of the income from court fees with additional income streams from coaching, marking and sales of merchandise.
  • The level of remuneration from court fees will depend on the candidate’s experience, qualifications and skills.
  • There is a bonus scheme which applies to both the Head Professional and to the Club General Manager and this is linked to an improvement on the overall financial outcome of the Club over the year.
