Canford is seeking a Real Tennis & Squash Assistant Professional

Oct 29, 2021

Canford is seeking an Assistant Professional/Sports Coach to support members of the School’s Squash and Real Tennis Clubs, coaching members and pupils and helping with the day to day running of the facility.

“A full apprenticeship could be offered to candidates wishing to develop their coaching knowledge, experience and get qualified in this area. The successful candidate will ideally have worked in a similar coaching role previously and have some experience of developing and coaching individuals and organising sporting events. A relevant racket sports coaching qualification and/or experience would be advantageous as would prior experience of working with children. However please note, full on-court training can be provided, particularly for real tennis.

Applicants should be friendly and approachable with a good sense of humour and excellent communication skills. A passion and enthusiasm for sport is essential and the postholder must be able to motivate and encourage members and pupils alike. This is an exciting opportunity for a unique career in sport with the successful candidate developing valuable on and off court skills training through the real tennis Investing In Professionals Programme. They are also highly encouraged to enhance their own game and ultimately enter major competitions.

This is a largely salary-based role with opportunities to increase income through coaching, stringing rackets, marking fixtures and making balls for external competitions. Accommodation support may also be available.
