Congratulations to British junior players Katherine C and Lydia CB, who won the Girls Under 19 World Championship Doubles, while additional congratulations go to Katharine, who beat Lydia in the Singles final.

Katherine Carney (Oratory) and Lydia Compton-Burnett (Wellington) went to the Tuxedo Club in New York State as two of six girls from the U.K. to take part in the Girls Under 19 World Championships. They had an amazing week, making many new friends, played lots of Real Tennis matches and also had time to enjoy some Rackets and padel at the Club. Members of the Tuxedo community generously billeted the girls and their parents, hosting social activities in the evenings. Katherine and Lydia both reached the finals of the singles and doubles. In the singles, Katherine was triumphant, beating Lydia 6/2 6/0 in a match closer than its scoreline suggested. The pair then won the doubles as partners, beating a strong USA pair, 6/2 6/0.

In a message on Instagram, Kerry Blabber shared, "A massive shout out to @royaltenniscourt @cambridgerealtennis @wellingtonrtc for also sending girls to play in the World Championships at @the_tuxedo_club_ who not only billited the girls but their families and provided an extensive entertainment programme for the girls and families who made the trip. A massive thank you to the USA Court Tennis Preservation Fund who supported the event extensively. It will be a hard championship to beat they definitely know how to look after their girls who are passionate about the sport."
