Final

  • Georgie Willis & Alex Brodie bt Kate Milliken-Smith & Olly Cockroft 15/4 15/6

Georgie Willis and Alex Brodie proved too strong for valiant runners up, Kate Milliken-Smith and Olly Cockroft. Solid serving from Alex opened a small lead 3-0, before the Wellington pair responded but it was soon 5-1. At this point both Alex and then Georgie opened a winning lead, taking the next 8 points to 13-1. A high volley from Kate won back the service, inching back to 4-13. But losing the serve was too much and Alex struck two more fine serves to win the first game 15/4.

Alex continued to serve sublimely, with Georgie mopping up any loose points to lead 13-0. Kate and Olly dug deep, recovering to 6-13, but it was not enough. The next hand saw the new champions serve out, winning the second and final game 15/6.

This was a great days Rackets, which saw a strong showing from Wellington (and ex-Wellingtonians). The event will return to Malvern in 2016, but this year provided a perfect back drop to the Ladies World Championship.
