Local Students Granted Courtside Access to British Open 2025

The T&RA has once again partnered with the Queen’s Club Foundation for an initiative that gives students from the local community a taste of Real Tennis during the British Open.

The Tennis and Rackets Association and the Queen’s Club Foundation have partnered for the second year in a row to give students from local state schools the opportunity to attend the Sir John Ritblat British Open and Women’s British Open Real Tennis Championships.

Last year we were able to give more than 30 students rare behind-the-scenes access to our beloved sport, and this year we’ve managed to double the number to 64 students. They will attend in small groups to watch the Singles Quarter Finals and Women’s Semi Finals on Thursday, 20 November and the Doubles Quarter Finals and Women’s Doubles Semi Finals on Friday, 21 November.

Before settling in to watch the world’s best Real Tennis players compete, the students will be treated to on-court introductory sessions led by Jack Josephs, Club Professional at Hampton Court’s Royal Tennis Court. A graduate of the T&RA’s Investing in Professionals programme, Jack is great with Junior players and is able to expertly guide them through the basics of Real Tennis in a fun way designed to inspire future participation.

This Real Tennis British Open initiative reflects the T&RA and the QCF’s wider goal of making racquet sports more inclusive, more visible and more accessible, regardless of background. It is one of several junior engagement projects run by both organisations.

Funding is essential to sustaining and expanding programmes such as this and we encourage supporters to learn more or contribute where possible. To support the T&RA, please click here. And to learn more about the Queen's Club Foundation and to offer support, click here.
