New World Record Set in Rackets

The Tennis & Rackets Association is proud to announce a landmark achievement in the high-speed world of Rackets, where we’ve broken the World Record in ball speed.

Long recognised as one of the fastest and most demanding racquet sports, Rackets requires extraordinary prowess and precision on court. Former World Champion Willie Boone famously sent a Rackets ball soaring at 164 mph — a ball speed long regarded as the fastest for racquet-generated impact.

With the support of advanced tracking technology provided by Roland Garros, the T&RA has now surpassed this long-standing figure. Professional squash player Robbie Temple has set a new recorded ball speed of 169 mph, breaking a record that has stood for more than 25 years and setting a new standard for the sport.

This remarkable feat will serve as the benchmark for an exciting challenge on 11 December, during the National Schools event at The Queen’s Club, sponsored by Brown Advisory. We’ve invited elite athletes Richard Owen (Rackets), Bryn Sayers (Real Tennis), Lee Childs (Lawn Tennis) and Robbie Temple (Squash) to attempt to exceed this newly established record, bringing four sister sports together on the Rackets court in a rare and engaging showcase of skill and athleticism. Stay tuned for the results!
