Nick Orr Announced as New CEO of the T&RA
Brigadier Nick Orr will be taking over as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Tennis & Rackets Association in 2026.
The news was announced in an email to members from T&RA Chairman Richard Compton-Burnett, as follows:
Dear Member,
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Brigadier Nick Orr as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Tennis & Rackets Association.
Nick is an accomplished leader but also a committed member of our community. He is a keen member and Secretary of the Hyde Real Tennis Club and he played some Rackets during his time at Charterhouse. His enthusiasm for racket sports will be instrumental as he steps up to lead the T&RA into its next chapter.
Nick brings an exceptional and relevant skillset honed over a distinguished career. He served in the Army with distinction for over 30 years. He commanded his Regiment during a period that included operational tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thereafter he was Deputy Commander of the British Forces in Cyprus and then spent three years as UK Defence adviser to Canada working alongside the British High Commissioner. He has spent much of the last four years doing high level consulting work for KPMG and Deloitte. In addition, he is Honorary Colonel of his Regiment and this role includes selecting young officers and acting as Chair of the Regimental Charitable Trusts.
His most significant skills are directly relevant to the T&RA. He brings advanced leadership, strategic, and governance experience. He also possesses strong communication skills and is experienced at effecting necessary change while bringing all stakeholders along with him.
This was a rigorous and competitive search process and Nick excelled at each stage. Our vision to support our community, strengthen our foundations and grow the games for the benefit of all will be in good hands.
Nick will be based in London and at the T&RA office at Queen’s for most of the week. He will officially start in March, allowing for a proper handover period from Chris Davies before the latter retires on 18th June.
He is very much looking forward to getting out and about in his first few months, visiting Clubs and Schools, meeting members and being a visible leader across the country.
Please join me in offering a very warm welcome to Nick.
Richard Compton-Burnett
