Over 40s Open Singles 2019

The 2019 British Open took place at Seacourt Tennis Club from Friday 3rd May-Sunday 5th May

It was great to see some new players come down to the coast!

Peter Kirby and Ashley Deakin kicked off the tournament on friday with Ashley proving too strong winning 6/2 6/1.

Local players Charlie Danby took on Chris Snell, Charlie proving too strong 6/2 6/0.

Simon Edmund had a great battle against Colin Sprott, the only match to go the full three sets, with Simon prevailing 1/6 6/3 6/4.

Semi-finals, Nick Warner moved through to the final with a walkover as the number 2 seed Roman Krznaric had to withdraw.

Meanwhile the number 1 seed and holder of the John Ward Trophy, Peter Wright, played well and was too strong for Charlie Danby, winning 6/0 6/2.

Onto the final, from the first ball, Peter was in control, showing why he is one of the top Amateurs in the world beating Nick Warner 6/1 6/1

A great tournament with Peter taking his tenth title.
