James Male won the British Over 50s Amateur Championship at Lord’s at the first attempt, becoming the fourth former World Rackets Champion to win the Bridgeman Cup after Geoffrey Atkins, Howard Angus and John Prenn. In doing so James had to overcome strong opposition from Prenn and David Watson who have dominated this event for the last decade. In high quality tennis Prenn took a set off James in the semi final and Watson went down 4/6 3/6 in the final. Other notable performances came from Patrick Lawrence, Anthony Jenks and Simon Barker. Richard MacAlister beat Ronald Paterson in the plate final.

Thanks to MCC for hosting an enjoyable event.
