Rackets Professional wanted at Rugby School

Jul 19, 2022

Rugby School are looking to appoint a Rackets Professional starting September 2022. Rackets is an exhilarating racquet sport, which gave birth to squash. With the ball travelling in excess of 150mph, it is one of the fastest ball sports in the world.

Whilst the sport originated at Harrow in the early 19th century, the game began at Rugby not long after this. Rackets is now played at 14 independent schools and Rugby is one of the few to have two dedicated Rackets courts.

Rugby School prides itself on having a forward thinking and dynamic Sports Department. Sport at Rugby School is at an all-time high and we are looking to complement our department with a Rackets Professional who shares our drive for excellent coaching and rackets provision.

Following the retirement of our previous Rackets Professional, Rugby School is looking for a full-time coach. They must have a minimum of 3 years coaching experience of Rackets and have played Rackets to a high level. The successful candidate will support the Sports Department and the Director of Racquets Sports with promoting, planning and delivering our Rackets programme to both boys and girls. They will immerse themselves in life at a busy boarding school helping with training, fixtures and tournaments.

The role comes with one-bedroom accommodation to support the delivery of a coaching programme that requires evening and weekend work. The suitable candidate must be able to support the Sports Department in coaching additional sports throughout the academic year.

We pride ourselves on offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a vastly experienced department, alongside regular training in sports coaching, research and guiding aspiring athletes into the world of professional sports via our links with professional sports organisations.

The role will start on 5th September 2022 (or as soon after this date) and is 40 hours per week and is for 35 weeks of the year (term time plus). Weekly hours may vary depending on our fixture calendar. Please read our Sports Department brief for full details of life in the department or contact sports@rugbyschool.net for an informal discussion regarding the role.
