Three New Open Tournaments Added to T&RA's Fixtures Calendar
Three exciting new Open Real Tennis tournaments are set to join T&RA’s fixtures calendar for the 2026/27 season, creating even more opportunities for players across the country to compete, develop and test themselves against the very best.
The T&RA is delighted to announce the launch of the Eastern Open, Wessex Open and Thames Valley Open.
The inaugural events will take place at:
Eastern Open — Cambridge, 29 October–1 November 2026 (entries are set to open in early October)
Wessex Open — Canford, 25–28 February 2027
Thames Valley Open — Leamington, 4–7 March 2027
The introduction of these tournaments marks an exciting step forward for Real Tennis in the UK, reflecting the T&RA’s ambition to see more high-level Tennis played throughout the season and to provide players with greater opportunities to compete.
For aspiring Professionals and amateurs alike, these new Opens will provide valuable additional court time and the chance to gain experience in competitive match play. Whether young or experienced, players will be able to challenge themselves against a wider range of opponents, sharpen their skills and build the confidence needed to compete at the highest level — both at home and on the international stage.
With more competitive opportunities comes more chances to learn, improve and push the standard of play ever higher. The T&RA hopes that these tournaments will become an exciting and important part of the annual calendar, helping to strengthen the depth and quality of Real Tennis across the country.
The new Open events will also bring top-level competition to different parts of the UK. To ensure that players from every corner of the country have the opportunity to take part, the tournaments will operate on a club rotation, with different clubs taking their turn to host in future seasons.
We would like to extend our thanks to Cambridge, Canford and Leamington for volunteering to host the first edition of these new tournaments. Their support is helping to make this expansion of the competitive calendar possible.
With three new Opens and plenty of opportunities for players to test themselves, the 2026/27 season promises to be an exciting one for Real Tennis. We look forward to seeing players from across the country taking to the court and making these new tournaments a success.
