* Category A Open Championships (Level Singles for Handicaps 0-9) 2026

The top 12 entrants (9 pros and 3 amateurs) competed for this year’s Sundubs 0-9s Category A Open Singles Championship. There were two stand out results in Friday’s first round as Adam Player and Ned Batstone upset the odds to overcome Louis Gordon and Henry Henman respectively.  Saturday’s quarter finals then saw Zak Eadle battle past the number two seed Darren Long and Ned Batstone continue his breakthrough tournament by beating number four seed Will Flynn. Prested professional Vaughan Hamilton put in an exceptional display against Ladies World Champion Claire Fahey in our first semi-final before Zak Eadle showed his experience to edge past Batstone in the other semi. The final was one match too many for Zak, who had a fantastic tournament to be proud of, as Vaughans shorter time on court and superior fitness shone through for a 4/6 6/4 6/0 victory in the final. The Cat A title caps a superb season for Vaughan! We were grateful to have a full house spectating live throughout the event and extend thanks to all our sponsors and organising committee.
