Seacourt Silver Racquet 2024

The qualifying rounds ran from Wednesday through to late Thursday evening. The four qualifiers were Adam Player, Max Trueman, Vaughan Hamilton and Will Flynn.

Friday saw the start of the Main Draw with the Ladies World Champion making her way past Adam Player in straight sets, former World Champion Rob Fahey felt the wrath of Junior World Champion Max Trueman with a great display of Tennis between both players before Max made use of the handicap winning in straight sets. Louis Gordon had a long match beating the Amateur champion, Rob Shenkman, 6/5 6/5 to make the quarter finals. Also through to this stage was Will Flynn who beat Levi Gale 6/5 6/2, Vaughan Hamilton beat Claire Fahey 6/5 6/5 and Max Trueman beat Lewis Williams 6/4 4/6 6/1. Now having reached the semi-finals stage, it was evident that everyone upped their game!

10am on a fresh Sunday morning saw Max Trueman play Vaughan Hamilton with both players on their best form. Vaughan drew first blood taking the first set with near flawless Tennis, taking it 6/2 before Max got himself into match mode securing his place in the final 2/6 6/3 6/3. Will Flynn was up next with the midday semi-final against Louis Gordon, battle of the giants, both players fighting for a place in the final, which is no strange place to Louis as he’s been in the last 4 for 2 years running! But this year it was not to be, with Will bringing his best game to the table winning 6/3 6/4.

So after 5 days of great Tennis we reach the final with the 2 best players left…. Max v Will, the Seacourt boys as everyone said, both of them knowing each other’s games inside out, so we were in for a treat. The first set was so close, sharing games with each other all the way to 4/4 before Max pulled away and took the first set 6/4, and as last year's winner was slightly more settled, but Will had his response in the 2nd set being more aggressive, showing style and control winning the set 6/3. It's now all tied and both players on form, you could have dropped a pin in the Club! Will dropped his shoulders and showed us all how he can play and came through the final set with confidence and control winning the Silver Racquet trophy beating Max Trueman 4/6 6/3 6/0.
