British U12/U15/U19 Doubles Tournament 2014
This event was held once again at Holyport over the weekend of 22nd/23rd March. There was a really good entry of 36 juniors with many different clubs being represented.
The Under 12 section surprised many onlookers with the quality of play being produced by such young players. The final was an all Seacourt affair with Max Jones &William Flynn playing Elliot Cotton & Edward Charlton. Elliot and Edward had played well to reach the final but in the end Max and William were far too strong for them.
At Under 15 level the group stages were really close with some great matches. Benedict Yorston (Radley) & Henry Stevinson (Manchester) got through to the final to play against identical twins Zak & Finlay Ramjane (Prested). The young Seacourt pairing of Hugh Thomas & George Charlton came very close to reaching the final but fell at the last hurdle. The final was a very close and often tense affair. Ben & Henry took the first set 6/3 and then the twins fought back to take the second 6/4. The final deciding set could have gone either way but it was Zak & Finlay who finally came out on top to become British Under 15 Doubles Champions.
The Under 19s was a real step up with some excellent tennis being played. The group stages produced the 3 top pairings, Giles Gunning & Sam Willis (Seacourt), Levi Gale (Hyde) & Henry Mullan (Bristol) and Felix White & Rory Giddins (Queens). After some very tight matches the Seacourt pairing dropped out make way for the other two pairs to play the final. Felix and Rory got off to a flying start taking the first two games but once Levi & Henry (both with sub 20 handicaps) got going they were unstoppable, going on to take the title 6/3 6/0.
